Ashleigh Travis, the current Part VI Circuit Court judge of the 19th Judicial District, has announced her candidacy to continue serving in the position.
Travis, a Republican, was appointed by Gov. Bill Lee to fill the new judgeship created by the Tennessee General Assembly. Prior to her appointment as circuit judge, Travis served as the child support magistrate for the 18th and 19th Judicial Districts, where she was responsible for managing dockets across Montgomery, Robertson and Sumner counties, which resulted in over 20,000 total hearings, according to a news release. Before being selected to that role, she was an attorney at Bateman & Bateman, starting out as a legal assistant/paralegal by day while attending law school at night. After passing the bar exam, she was promoted to associate attorney, where she practiced until her appointment as magistrate.
A firm believer that the law not only applies to, but must serve everyone fairly and equally, Travis pledges to continue serving the people of the 19th Judicial District with the dignity and respect that they each deserve, the release said.
Travis is a Clarksville native, having attended Montgomery Central High School, and completing her undergraduate degree at Austin Peay. She and her husband Michael live in Clarksville and have two children. She is also a member of Clarksville’s Rotary Club and a graduate of Leadership Clarksville.
“For the past four years, I have been honored to serve the people of District 19. As your judge I will continue to ensure the people of Montgomery and Robertson Counties are given the opportunity to be heard, the opportunity for a fair trial, and are treated with respect throughout the litigation process,” Travis said.
